Handmade Devon provides Silver Clay workshops as a relaxed and rewarding experience for individuals or groups of up to 6 people. During the experience, your host Maria will guide you through each step of the process from design to firing and the finishing touches that will make your unique piece of Silver jewellery very special and personal.
Our aim is to provide you with a social, craft experience where you can 'Create the things you love’
Numbers are kept small so there is plenty of individual support. Emphasis is on having fun, learning new skills and going home with a beautiful piece of silver jewellery to be proud of, made by you.

What is Silver Clay? Silver Clay is made from a fine powder of pure silver mixed with water and an organic binder to make a thick paste which has the consistency and properties of traditional clay. It can be rolled, stamped, textured, folded and moulded to create endless shapes and designs. Once dry, the clay is fired, the binder burns off leaving a perfect design in 99.9 % pure fine silver. It is easy to work with and anyone with no previous experience can produce fantastic designs in pure silver.
Your host - My name is Maria Couston and I am a Certified Senior Art Clay instructor with a passion for creating beautiful things. I have 15 years of teaching/support staff experience in local schools until the summer of 2013 when I set out on this venture to provide Silver Clay workshops. Workshops are held in our 200 year old barn in the delightful village of Silverton, in the heart of Devon, just 6 miles from Exeter. There is plenty of parking and beautiful views across the Exe Valley from the workshop to make your day a truly memorable experience. Workshops are relaxed and informal.
